Welcome! I’m Sara Maurno. My husband Dann and I married in 2007 and settled in a historical seaport community of Salem, Massachusetts with our rescued greyhound.

After months of looking at contemporary lofts and historical homes throughout the downtown, we finally found a 2,200 square foot condominium. When we first laid eyes on our future home we found it to be rather “cookie-cutter” 1980’s in design. Yet, while it lacked the character and architectural detail we craved in older homes in the neighborhood, the working fireplace and brick patio immediately conjured images of entertaining and BBQ’s in the heart of the city!

We are “creative sorts” even in our day jobs. We’ve both held dual careers for most of our lives. We are both actors. Dann, The Mighty Writer, also spends his day as a director of publishing for an online social media marketing company. After leaving my teaching career I own my own social media marketing company, Hey Sadie Mae and promoted local businesses and non-profits. As I grew to learn more about this fabulous community, I decided to become a REALTOR with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.  I love helping my clients visuals their homes in new ways! For fun we host a local cable access show, Salem GASworks that supports the arts & entertainment scene in Salem and the North Shore. I hope you will visit us there as well.

I’m happiest losing myself in the creative process. (Maybe you know the feeling?) My husband will tell you he knows it’s going to be a great day when I don my overalls! Every speck of spackle and paint on them is memory of a creative project in our home. This blog is my chronicle of home improvement, DIY projects, art, inspiration and works in progress. You will also find moments of gratitude found mostly while walking our greyhound pup. Teo takes us away from technology, back to nature and into the simple pleasures of life!

    • Well thank you! I never heard of this. So I have to asnwer the questions. etc. and nominate 4 more blogs???? eseentially sharing support for fellow newbie bloggers like myself? Do I have a time frame for doing this? I am in the throws of studying for my real estate licence and won’t really be able to respond until next week. Is this ok? Thanks again.       • I had never heard of the Liebster blog awards before a few days ago. To be honest I’ve adjusted the rules a little to suit. The blogger that nominated me, had 11 questions for me, 11 facts and I had to nominate 11 blogs. So I scaled it down a little. The rules seem rather ‘flexible’ shall we say, so there’s no rigid time frame for responding. Hope your studying is going well. Sure you don’t need it but good luck! Love your blog by the way. V x
